The digestive system starts working as soon as the food touches the lips and is ingested. The various organs work together to run this machinery. The nerves and hormones control the actions of the internal organs. There are mechanical and chemical processes that work simultaneously to digest the food and provide energy to the body. The biogas self assessment tool was developed to increase awareness and utilization of anaerobic digestion processes and renewable energy production in agriculture. Biogas is a product of the anaerobic digestion process comprised of methane, carbon dioxide, and trace amounts of other compounds.

  • It is somewhat parallel to the first law of thermodynamics for a constant pressure system. Q = ΔU + PΔV since in this case Q=ΔH. It is a useful quantity for tracking chemical reactions. If as a result of an exothermic reaction some energy is released to a system, it has to show up in some measurable form in terms of the state variables.
